Many never did switch. I still have the chinese charecter on my belt as does a number of the black belts at Nago Shubukan.

Hey Dana! Been awhile. I hope all is well. According to what I have here I believe there are at least 4 dojo in the US recognized by the Konan-Ryu organization here in Okinawa. Clapping and bowing to pictures? When you enter and leave the dojo you bow to the pictures as a sign of respect. This is just the traditional hakama normally worn for special occasions. Anyone can wear it at anytime, but they would look silly, in Okinawa anyhow, just walking around in it.
