Knees and Wooden Floors

Hi Lee, Nice to hear from you. Myself, I have no suggestions, only that with age I have found myself using knee pads while working in the house, projects that require working while kneeling. My suggestion would be to talk to your classmates and find out what they are using and go from there. That to...

I've joined you on the Cape!

Hi Steve, Well you sure are not far from me, I live in East Falmouth. I hate to report in like this, but I received some bad news today. After fighting a couple infections recently, I had an appointment in Boston today. My test are showing that I have some cancer activity again. It's the myeloma, it...

I've joined you on the Cape!

Hey Allen, the ocean keeps us nice and warm here. If it gets so cold that we get ice, it DOES get cold. High teens in the winter right here is cold. You can have those freezes.

I've joined you on the Cape!

Hi Steve, Where did you move to?? I am a bit under the weather right now but hopefully in a week or maybe two will be able to do SOMETHING other than lay around all day. I have a key to the old dojo and maybe we can set something up. Maybe I can get Art to join us. And George, where the heck are the...

I have a red face.

George of course I'm so sorry that this time has come for your sister. We have had our discussions about this but now is the time I just want you to know, anything I can do, just pick up the phone. Suzie and I both send our best, our thoughts and prayers are with you and Susan and of course your sis...

I have a red face.

A funny story, typical of my life experiences. Thought I would share it with you. I spent three days in the hospital, got home yesterday afternoon. It seems that the anti biotic given to me for an infection actually caused a more serious infection and I had to be in a private room. I was so doped up...

Lots of "Stuff" floating around.

Here on the Cape there has been a number of flu bugs and colds starting up already. My regular doctor is out of town until the ninth so I won't be getting my flu shot until then. I am just getting over an infection, 10 days of a nasty anti biotic can really kick one's butt. It sure put mine in it's ...

TOMOYOSE SENSEI'S SHOULDER AND NECK EXERCISES

OK I am simply going to post what I wrote down as doing the exercises with Sensei Tomoyose. One thing that I did that is different is the breathing. He had me completely exhaling all the old air, even finishing as we do with the pushing out the last of the air with the stomach. As in getting rid of ...

Martial Arts in a Wheelchair

Nathan it sounds to me like you have what it takes to be that role model. Just think of those who see you and think, "If Nathan can do it, so can I." The key word you used is "adapt". It appears you have already learned how to do that. Keep it up, you inspire all of us to work a ...

TOMOYOSE SENSEI'S SHOULDER AND NECK EXERCISES

Great Allan! You actually beat me to the punch. When Mr. Tomoyose was at the house, he was up in his room with the door closed. I figured he was resting. After a good while he came down and he had written these exercises down and one by one put me through them, and I wrote each one down so I could r...

Martial Arts in a Wheelchair

Welcome Nathan!! I think it's fantastic your taking up whichever system you choose. Student is correct, I remember the gentleman in the wheelchair very well. He couldn't kick either but adapted and performed beautiful form. His upper strength more than made up for any lack of kicking. And his form w...

Master Tomoyose/Summer Camp

Thank you David, I had a great time and it was such a pleasure for me to be of some "use" again. The support I have received from all my friends has booted me in the butt. I have decided to live forever!! I will surely wear out my welcome long before that. Great camp, great group, great ti...

Tribute to Ahti: From GEM in Atlanta

I best remember Ahti at the Hall of Fame Banquet many years ago. Art Rabesa and I were talking to him and Art looked at me and said, "You know Bill, this is one crazy Bas---." Of course coming from Art that meant he greatly respected Ahti and we had a good laugh. He will surely be missed. ...
