Hockey dad trial

I know this is not the point. But would we be having this debate if the big guy were a grappler.

Too much "artistic" emphasis?

A ‘martial art’ consists of to parts:-

The ‘martial’ bit and the ‘art’ bit. A style that is totally devoid of one is not a ‘martial art’.

However the martial part of an art can be reduced to almost nothing. Such as the ‘Tie Chi’ practised in the early mornings.

Tomato vs. Tomahto - How do JJ versions differ?

Jujitsu is Jujitsu as Karate is Karate.

Both range from Zen to Kempo.

Talk about Tae Kwon Do

Just my opinion.

Without Lee’s internal content you lose the ‘art’ from your martial art.

Without the external content you lose the ‘martial’ from your martial art.

You must have both ‘martial’ and ‘art’ to make a martial art.

breathing

While we’re on the subject. Maybe Bill would be so kind as to settle an argument.

When I fall I breath in holding my breath at the moment of impact. A blue belt has told me that my lungs should be empty. Bill please, is there any medical evidence ether way.

Question for Stryke

I have been thinking of taking up karate for some kata. All the arts I have done so far seem to avoid them. Can anyone tell me what styles I should hunt down and which I should avoid?

Thanks

Gold belt

I wear a white belt, mostly because I can’t find one of those rainbow ones http://www.xpres.net/~gmattson/ubbs/biggrin.gif . Last time I did holding Randori at my club I beat a brown belt and a second dan. I know most if not quite all the syllabus required for black belt. My white belt dose not mean ...
