I have just started running a junior class in Tae kwon do with another instructor. I am after any hints that people may have for making junior classes "fun". Does anyone have any good activities or games that let you teach skills and drills without always having students in lines moving up and down ...

my first breaks
Well I have done it!! My first lot of breaks. I did them last night at training when the instructor suddenly found out that I was required to do breaks at the next coming grading (May 27th), rather than at my black belt grading in November.
I had no warning before turning up at training so it was ...

push ups
I quote:
"When I teach we don't do push-ups, we do static bridge excercises. Which I've found to help me with my overall strength way more than push ups ever did."
Dana
I would be interested in how you do these static bridge exercises. Can you provide some more details?
Thanks

push ups
Do instructors allow female students in their classes to do "half push ups" (with their knees on the ground) or do they have to do the full push ups the same as the male students?
Also is there a physiological reason for women to not do full push ups or is it just the musculature of females means a ...

preparing for breaks
Thanks to all who have replied to my question so far. I have taken note of your advice and will attempt to act upon it.
For my grading I will be required to break a single 1 inch board with various kicks. I can be asked to do any or all of the following: front snap kick, side kick, turning kick ...

don't let your hair down
Lori,
I quote:I'm not about to cut off my hair in the interest of street-defense - but it would be good to hear some potential defenses against someone who's got your hair during an attack.
Any ideas?
As part of our TKD red belt self defence we learn 4 hair defence moves, 2 against a grab from ...

I will soon be required to break boards and tiles. Does anyone out there have any advice on preparing physically ...
