Just because you're good at one thing - real estate in this case - doesn't mean you're good at something else.

I don't know why we wouldn't be putting ships and troops in the area. There's a major refugee crisis happening, and it is in our interest to see the place remain reasonably stable. A clusterfuk around Syria could spill over into Israel, and they don't mess around. It's best not to go there.

This guy is way too much into conspiracy theories and has had way too much coffee. A mental reset is in order. He needs gym time and/or sex.

I haven't watched the video (and from the sound of it there's no reason to), but I think we should stay the hell out of Syria. Not pleased with the Obama administration's handling of it, with the one caveat that if it actually turns out to be an elaborate good cop/bad cop bluff with Russia and they never really intended to involve our military, then that's actually a pretty good strategy and outcome.

The "unintended consequence" of the deal with Russia to remove the chemical weapons is to assure al-Assad's grip on power in the country. They will need the cooperation of his government if they are to proceed, and the rebels will only get in the way. And of course this has now been planned out to take over a year to document, secure, transport, and remove/destroy.

If you aren't prepared to fix what you broke, then you shouldn't touch the thing. But they did, and now the U.S. has effectively taken sides in a civil war. Putin has outfoxed Obama, and kept his boy in power. Leadership in Iran is also smiling as they keep their ally and continue on with their nuclear weapons program. The U.S. in fact is rewarding al-Assad for gassing women and children. I'm sure there's a trip to Oslo in Barry's immediate future. Oh goodie; tell Michele to pack the bags.

Good luck with the WMD shell game. Time is on al-Assad's side.

Well it seems that the Russians have presented evidence to the UN that it was the rebels who used chemical weapons

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-24140475

do you think Obama will be so outraged that they have crossed his RED line that he will stop supporting them and Al Qaeda?

The Russians have been maintaining this "the rebels did it" argument with little to no proof to back it up. It allows them to continue to support al-Assad while feigning a position on the moral high ground.

The whole affair of "who did it" was intentionally averted by the castrated U.N. so that they could establish it was indeed sarin gas without having the Russians veto their every move. U.N. observers noted that evidence had been "touched" before they got there.

The evidence is available, but nobody wants to hear it.

Evidence includes the trajectory of the missiles, and intercepted radio communications informing soldiers to wear their masks.

It's not about the truth. It's about power over the middle east. The president vs. the Czar.

I'm not sure it's useful for them to be fussing over this. The Russians have their own issues with Muslim terrorism, Chechnya being the prime example. The two nations are better off as allies rather than opponents in this region. More than a few people commenting on U.S. newspaper websites would prefer that the Shia and the Sunnis kill each other off in some fenced-in country.

There are few "good guys" in this civil war.

sort of.it's about a gas pipeline.the Saudis said they would fund this war, because they want a pipeline to go through Syria...also Qatar does.......the Russians have the largest gas/oil company in the World Gasprom and they don't. Europe will get it's gas from Russia. there is a rumour that Cameron backed down from this war because he got a phone call from Putin. it's geo politics at it's best.........or worst.
the thing is though..as I understand it America cannot go to war unless she is attacked .......so this war with Syria would be against the US constitution and illegal.........so maybe we'll get a false flag attack to justify it

Iran, Syria and the Hezbollah in Lebanon are the extensions of Putin's power in the region. It would be nice if people could help each other, rather than the alternative.

And while they play their chess game to sort out the future of the world, the children inhale poison gas. :evilbat:

They are allies to Russia...but we are only looking at shadows and trying to make judgements............And there is much more to this , look at Cyprus and it's bank "Bail ins" ( coming to the US soon)......Russia had lots of holdings in Cyprus, and there was no real need for a bail in. Cyprus is ~Russias place in the MED....so maybe that was geopolitics in play.who knows.........but who would benefit from the collapse of Syria...........only the Sauds and Qatar..........and maybe the petro dollar, for a while anyway

Well it doesn't really matter if they do inhale poisonous gas..I never really understood this logic, they were getting shot at and massacred by bullets...then the US said we'll send in a few tomohawks and that will cure the situation
