FIRST ANNUAL IRON-HORSE BIATHALON!

Post by Panther »

Do you have/ride a motorcycle?

Do you have a Massachusetts LTC (License To Carry a handgun)?

Are you a "rider"?

Are you a "shooter"?

Do you want to help some great organizations/charities?

It's a RIDE! It's a SHOOTING COMPETITION!
It's the FIRST ANNUAL IRON-HORSE BIATHALON!!

Right now details are being finalized, but we do know this:

It will be on Sunday, July 13th, 2003 and will probably start around 10-10:30AM. From the TBD staging area (in Central Massachusetts), there will be a motorcycle ride to a gun club where participants will shoot 10 rounds at a target. When everyone competing has shot, we'll saddle back up and head out to continue the ride to another gun club where participants will shoot again! Then we will head over to a local pub for a chicken bar-b-que (includes corn & potato salad) and some musical entertainment. (Since this is a smoking establishment, local zoning requires everyone to be 21+) And at this pub, there is naturally a cash bar for whatever beverage you'd like with your meal. (Alcohol is available at the final destination, but only water and soft-drinks are allowed at the gun clubs. Drink responsibly!)

There will be raffles and prizes. Including prizes for the top three shooters! (If there are ties for the top spots, we'll put the names in a hat and draw winners.) Prizes will be announced later. (Donations towards the event in the form of money or raffle prizes are greatly appreciated!) You may also order an official ride T-shirt in your size when you pre-register, however the T-shirt pricing has not been finalized at this time.

If you don't want to shoot, you don't have too. All types of bikes welcome to ride... All types of handguns are welcome to compete. Pre-purchase tickets will be $15 (which pays for the food, entertainment and helps defray the cost of prizes). All proceeds will benefit the GOAL Foundation and The Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association.

UPDATE!

Post by Panther »

Because of conflicting events (the Make-a-Wish Foundation ride was moved to July 13th because of rain and lots of folks want to go on that run), the Iron-Horse Biathalon will be on...

July 20th, 2003

Riders will gather at the junction of Rte 12 & 110 at the Causeway Crossing Mall (Choey Lee's) in West Boylston at 10AM. The ride starts at 11AM sharp! RAIN or SHINE

The ride will proceed ~1hr to a gun club where targets will be provided for those competing. Shooters bring your own "eyes & ears". (You don't have to shoot to ride, in fact there are a number of non-shooters who will be riding) From there, the ride will continue for ~1hr again to another gun club where competitors will shoot again. Finally, everyone will adjourn to the 140 club in Sterling MA for a chicken BBQ, cash bar, live entertainment, the awarding of prizes and raffles. Top three shooters win prizes. There will be raffles for more donated prizes.

The ride... The shoot... The chicken BBQ... entertainment...

all for $20 per person donation to the GOAL foundation and the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association! (Both are 503C non-profits so additional donations are tax deductible!)

AND for those who purchase tickets in advance, I will throw in a ride T-shirt FREE! (If you register the day of the event and order a T-shirt then, it will cost you $10)

Some prizes have been donated by AG Guns & Ammo in Lowell MA.
The T-shirts have been donated at cost by Signs & Wonders in Boylston MA.

All bikes are welcome (street legal and registered).
You don't have to shoot to ride.

There will be a number of LEO competitors and it is their day off, so be safe and drink responsibly. (Alcohol available at final stop of the day ONLY.)

No colors.

Thanks for the responses so far. I will be getting in touch with each of you soon!

Take care and be good to each other..
