Second Annual Iron-Horse Biathlon, July 24th

Post by Panther »

This is sort of martial arts related... (we shoot guns! ;) )

Last year, I held the First Annual Iron-Horse Biathlon charity event.

It's a combination motorcycle ride and friendly shooting competition with the proceeds to benefit the Eastern Paralyzed Veteran's Association and
the GOAL Foundation. Both of them are recognized 503(c) charities.

The EPVA has helped in the area of spinal cord research and helping those with spinal cord injuries for many years. Because the many veterans who've been helped wanted this organization to help others (especially children) who aren't veterans, the organization is in the process of changing its name to the United Spinal Association.

The GOAL Foundation teaches firearms safety and education to people of all ages, including the Eddie Eagle program (r).

This year, to raise money for these two worthy charities, we are raffling off a 2004 Victory Touring Cruiser motorcycle (a maximum of 300 tickets will be sold at $100 per ticket) and a S&W Model 500 .50 caliber revolver (a maximum of 300 tickets will be sold at $20 per ticket). After paying for the items and Massachusetts State taxes (yes, MA gets their cut even on "charity" raffles!), ALL remaining proceeds will go to the charities. (The motorcycle and gun are provided to us at dealer cost.)

The day's events INCLUDE breakfast, the bike run, the shooting competitions, chinese buffet dinner, AND the Chris Fitz Band for entertainment 6-10pm for ONLY $20 per person! (That just covers costs, but any extra goes to the charities.) If you just want to go to the party with the chinese buffet and the Chris Fitz Band, the cost is ONLY $15!

(Chris Fitz plays and sings original music and sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughn! He has a number of CDs out and is HOT in the blues-rock genre!)

For more info, to buy tickets for either the raffles or the events, please goto:

I should also let you know that for our raffle tables during the after-party, we ALREADY have between $4,000 & $5,000 worth of items! Things from fine jewelry to gift certificates, from furniture stores, jewelry stores, restaurants, gun stores, motorcycle shops, and on and on! So, bring some money with you too! It ALL goes for charity.

Thanks and hope to see you there!

Even though we are limiting the Raffle for the Touring Cruiser Motorcycle to 300 tickets, as things stand right now, it looks like anyone buying tickets for the bike will get significantly better odds than that! On the order of one in 150 or so! Hopefully we'll start selling tickets for the bike. Regardless, if we have the cost of the bike covered on the 24th, the winner will be pulled. Also, regarding the motorcycle raffle... Higgins Powersports has agreed to let the winner apply the value of this bike to other purchases instead. In other words, if you want a different model of motorcycle that he has, he'll work it out with the winner. (if it costs more, just pay up the difference... he'll work it out with you!)

Regarding the S&W raffle... AGAIN, it looks like the odds are going to be significantly better than 1 in 300... also on the order of 1 in 150-200 as things stand now. Also, if you are a Massachusetts resident and don't have your MA LTC, the gun store where we're getting the S&W through is also connected with a full-time training school. The owner has agreed that if the winner is a MA resident and doesn't have a permit, he'll give them the state required course for FREE. (That's normally $100+ for the full course from this school.)

Finally, we have thousands and thousands of dollars worth of items for the raffle table that night. From Jewelry to furniture stores to restaurants to gun stores to motorcycle shops (ALL makes and models) to attorneys fees!

Hope to see some of the Martial Arts community there...

Take care...
