FROM THE NOVA SCOTIA KARATE ASSOCIATION:

NEWSLETTER

SHOBU HAJIME!

The nationals are here and Shobu Hajime! will be heard many times during the 3 days of competition at the 31st annual Canadian National Karate Championships. This week from Thursday April 7th through Saturday April 9th inclusive Canada’s premier Karate competitors will come together to test their skills for the first time in Halifax since 1997.

The tournament will be held at “The Tower”, St. Mary’s University in Halifax. The events will start at 9am each morning and go until approx 4-5 pm. To get there simply drive south down Robie St. until you reach Inglis, turn left and enter the parking lot from Inglis or Tower Rd. We have also included a map of SMU here with the Tower in red.

Tickets are on sale now at the Delta Halifax and will be on sale at the Tower on Thursday , Friday, and Saturday. These ticket prices are some of the best deals you will get in this town for such a premier event . Here is the breakdown:

Thurs Friday Saturday 3 Day Pass
$7.00 $7.00 $10.00 $20.00 Adult
$5.00 $5.00 $7.00 $13.00 Child (7-14 years)
$20.00 $20.00 $28.00 $50.00 Family

There will be a large selection of event clothing and memorabilia available for purchase. These range from T-shirts to pins, from hoodies to the infamous trucker hats! All these items sport the tournament logo and are reasonably priced. As well Kamakaze and Spirit Martial Arts will also be on site with a large selection of Gi’s, pendants, flags, books, key chains, etc.

We hope to see a large contingent of Bluenosers cheering on our NS team for the duration of the tournament! If you can only make on Saturday a large showing at the opening ceremonies (9am again) would be greatly appreciated as we definitely want to let the remainder of Canada know where they are!

Note 1: There will be a Kata Clinic put on by the National Technical Committee open to all NKA/NSKA members from 9 am to 11 am on Wed April 6th at the Delta Halifax Baronet Ball room (8th floor).

Note 2: Karate Quebec will again be holding an open tournament on May 14 2005. Please see www.karatequebec.com for details.

We hope to see you at the tournament!
