Spring Into Action Martial Arts Camp 2002

INSTRUCTORS (in alphabetical order)

Burgett, Cary: Carey made a great presentation on TKD last year and will take us into the self defence aspects of that style this year.

Chen, Jospeh: Joseph is a Chen Taiji practitioner with over thirty years of experience. Those of us who were there last year will remember the great session he treated us to. If you want to experience a little of the real Taiji then join us at camp.

Chow, David: Dave is Uechi Ryu practitioner. Anyone, who has had the pleasure of training with Dave, knows that he is a fast intense martial artist. Dave will be working with us on how to slip off the line of that attack and get in quickly.

Desa, Manuel: Manuel is a Shohei Ryu practitioner who will be demonstrating the link between kata and practical application. They are not pretty dances, but effective training methods for self defence.

Fell, Tony: Tony is a Shohei Ryu and Chen Taiji practitioner who gave a fantastic seminar last year. Tony will be back again to show us more hard hitting practical defenses from the Shoehei Ryu system as he sees it.

Finlayson, Robb: Robb is a Personal Defense Readiness Instructor under Tony Blauer. Those of you know me know what a fan I am of Tony Blauer's material and research, so it is exciting to have Robb coming to our camp. But even more exciting is that he will be demonstrating HIGH GEAR.

La, Danny: There are not many instructors in Canada let alone Edmonton who have the Kobudo Lineage that the Okinawan Karate School does. Danny will be teaming up with Terry for a two hour session on the Bo. Danny also studies Uechi Ryu.

McGuire, Mike: Mike is an Edmonton Martial Artist with a very strong and varied background in practical systems. He will be presenting a session on stick disarms. We are pleased he will be one of our instructors this year.

McLaughlin, Terry: There are not many instructors in Canada let alone Edmonton who have the Kobudo Lineage that the Okinawan Karate School does. The Bo or staff is a very practical weapon for today's world. Be a stick, a rake, a broom or a pool cue, this traditional Okinawan weapon has a direct application into the self defence of today. Terry always has a refreshing unique viewpoint. Terry also studies Uechi Ryu.

Poon, Bill: Bill is a Ketto Ryu Jujitsu practitioner and Filipino Martial Arts. Last year Bill focused on stick fighting, this year he will introduce us to FMA knife work.

Read, Ken: Ken is a Uechi Ryu practitioner who has been studying Qigong under David Mott Sensei. Qigong or Chinese Breathing exercises are directly related to martial abilities. Come and see why.

Tessier, Trevor: Trevor is a Ketto Ryu Jujitsu practitioner who impressed all the participants last year with his teaching abilities. Join him this year as he takes us to the ground.

Wilson, Rick: Rick is a Uechi Ryu practitioner with a diverse martial background. Rick will take us farther into the world of practical reactions to street attacks by taking us outside in the dark. Rick will also take us back to the ground for more ground fighting. This is different from the ground grappling we will have already covered and will be intense and fun.
