Bob Campbell sensei wrote fresh from his organized “Adventure race” last weekend in Taiwan at Sun Moon lake approx
4 hours drive from the capital of Taipei.

The event was a huge success & the final Race in
The Year 2001 & 2002 Series.

This was covered in the Action Asia magazine, a copy of which he is sending to me. Thanks Bob.

They are now planning a 2nd race in Malaysia in
October 2002 plus more races for 2003

These are significant events requiring world-class organization, and in connection with this, for Friday night at the camp, Campbell sensei has made some suggestions for our summer event as follows:

1] A splash party in the Academy Pool?

2] A skit or demo night where-in
Various dojos’ can put on demos or skits for token prizes

3] Judging can be by those in attendance by clapping or
Cheering........ How about a bomb/bon-fire on the Beach?

4] How about tug-of war between dojo's or teams made
Up from those present....... this is so easy, all it takes
Is a rope & it’s a great moral booster

5] How about walking on hot coals (fire walking) at
Night..... That’s always fun

6] How about board-brick-ice-breaking competitions.....
Or classes how to break?

**
Many people have complained to others and me that What the Camp needs is a stronger social inter-action
Elements (much more than presently is offered) people
Need to have fun..... laugh...... learn things other than
Blocking & punching.......

How about it George –san? This year camp has the making of the biggest and the most fun, ever.

The adventure race, as directed by Campbell sensei, had all of this.

Well? Any comments? Image

Great ideas. I'll need volunteers to help organize these event, make sure the equipment is available/purchased.

Does anyone have a focus mitt with a power meter? (A device to measure power)

We have a couple ideas for competitions, but we need measuring equipment to do this.

Breaking contests are OK, but are a bit dangerous if you start using multiple boards/bricks/ice etc. Hitting/kicking a heavy bag is less dangerous and measures the same kind of force necessary to do breaks.

Keep the ideas coming in.

I don't understand (besides a lot of work for Susan Image ) why there's never been a barbeque by the water? Wings, burgers, dogs, fish, even soyburger ( Image ) for those inclined. Goes good with a nice bonfire. Image
