Here's the place to offer suggestions for future SummerFests & WinterFests, talk about past events, post pictures and videos or share experiences from past Fests.
Do you read the Defensive Mindset forum before the morning newspaper? Do you think that Peyton Quinn is one of the great contemporary authors? Have you followed threads discussing unobtrusive weapons with great interest? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, make it a point to attend the combat cane seminars at summer camp 2000. Sensei David Elkins will present the basics of combat cane as taught by Master Mark Shuey of Canemasters. You will learn the basic deflections and strikes of the cane; common sense carry suggestions; self-defense techniques; an exercise sequence using the cane for strengthening, a Uechi-Ryu inspired kumite sequence; and a kata to consolidate your understanding of the cane. The cane is a very effective weapon of self-defense that is legal to carry in any situation.

Sounds like fun. Is there an 'official' cane available that we should acquire or will a piece of bamboo or broomstick be adequate?
