My First Instructor is gone

He taught me from age 12 to 17, then moved out west. He passed on a few years ago but I just heard about it. Wish he could have see then man I became. I was a shy kid in a class of adults but he took a special liking to me and would look at me and touch his chin to remind me to hold my head high.

The slaps on the back for holding a tight stance while he stood on my rear leg....the squat kicks with him on my shoulders....the tough sparring matches where he'd push me just a little more than I thought I could go but never mopped the floor with me....so many menories...rest in peace...

As an instructor, it is often difficult to know what "seeds" have been sown during teaching, let alone if the seeds sprouted & matured.

It sounds like your instructor did a wonderful job in teaching & nourishing a young mind/body. Thank you for sharing.
