In memorium (have one after camp)

Postby Mary S » Sat Jul 22, 2006 4:00 pm

This afternoon, whilst sitting at the keyboard the saddest thing occured.

From the balconey above a beer bottle hurtled to it's demise, smashing into a million pieces on the pavement outside my window.

The irony that I was listening to the Stones "Shattered" at the time did not escape me but then I got to thinking...

Why don't beer bottles have handles? Why would God, in his infinite wisdom create such a design flaw?

Why, God, why???

What have you seen in your glorious but short-lived life my little bronze glass beauty?

In the back of how many pick-up trucks have you sat, with your friends (so many friends ... 12/24 - I envy you)? How many campfires have you seen? Sunsets? Bar-be-ques? Patios? Breakfasts? Did you envision your life would make so many happy on a hot summer's day or delight after a long day at work?

Have you sat in the fridge late at night just knowing the potato salad is going bad and powerless to do anything about it?

Did the man upstairs with the big clumsy mitten hands shed a tear when you dropped to your death or did you commit suicide rather than be gripped by uncaring hands? Did you feel pain?

I mourn for you, little beer bottle....rest in peace with the angels....

*****

So my friends, while at Buzzard's Bay, raise one after your work out at GEM's summer camp....to the memory of my little friend :D

Bottles don't have handles but stainless kegs do.

Keep this in mind at your next purchase.
