God

Post by Lori »

Following is a poem by a 13 year old friend of mine - Regardless of your religious preferences - you might appreciate this expression of an inner journey of youth...

God
A caress of comfort
across a star covered sky
makes you ponder
how in the world did this evolution of man occur.
Was it pure science or the almightiy power of a being greater than any mere human?
As I gaze upon the moon,
my eyes wander to a single flower
bowing to and fro in the gentle wind.
The moonlight glistens on a small dewdrop
rolling down the delicate petal.
It makes you wonder
It makes you think
Is there a God?
Surely something great must have created this wonder...
I look up at a mysterious tree
which rustles in the night air,
it reminds you
somewhat of a lonely person with no one to talk to
no one to care for
It reminds me of myself
Then I hear the sound of a loving mother
calling to me and I realise,
yes,
there is a God.

Beautiful. . .

Hope Elizabeth doesn't mind if I quote her from time to time. Her poem reflects my view of God quite well. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Moving and beautiful.

Spirituality is about going beyond our limited sense of self to appreciate the greater... (?). It starts with questioning (and, sometimes, anguish) and it leads to acceptance and gratitude, not for what can be, but for what simply is.

Thanks for the comments - I printed them and shared them with Elizabeth.

George Sensei: she says you are welcome to quote her if you like!

The questioning and anguish involved in self-discovery and evolving spirituality is possibly more wide-spread among our youth than we realize... one can never have too many positive outlets - be it martial arts, writing, etc... Share one with a child...

Peace,
Lori
