Thanks Tony... The reason that came out was because of a conversation that happened recently. It's interesting how people assume you're doing... The conversation went like this:

(them) "I heard what you're going through, sorry to hear about it."
(me) "Hey, that's life."
(them) "Yeah, life is hard."
(me) "What are you comparing it with?"

The phoenix

Excuse me, pardon me,
didn't mean to cause any concern
waiting for the world to catch up
while I crash and burn

All those years ago
I never thought I'd be here
stepping into the unknown
beyond the trepidation and fear

Dive into the lava
feel the molten burn
everyone has their challenges
this time was just my turn

Take a leap of faith to
cross the abyss of time and space
and finally make the decision to
take a vacation from this place

Now it's time to take control
of how I live and feel
time to walk towards the sunrise
and see what the light will reveal

To get to the end,
it seems there's just one way
it starts by waking up in the morning
and facing another day

The phoenix
rises up from the flame
remembers the past and knows
things will never be the same

Looking toward that future,
can't wait for it to start
when the future finally comes
have an open mind and open heart
