After class a student informed me that his son received his Shodan in Taekwondo, two days after the test he went for ACL surgery on the knee that he had scheduled (was holding off until tested) his son is in his early fifties. Fred (his father) started the study of Uechi-ryu in his early seventies and will be tested for his Shodan in the coming Spring, I look forward to this more than any test I was ever on. He calls me "Sensei" but I have learned more from him than I feel he has from me. He may give up the Tournament scene after the test(yes he can fight)In his last Tournament he didn`t advance as he was disqualified for accessive head contact...the winner didn`t brag. For those of you that met this gentleman at summer camps in NS..he is live and well and always sharing his wisdom and motivating us in the Dojo and out.

It's an old and true statement that if you are a teacher, by your students you will be taught. (para from the King & I)

What a wonderful student to have! You are fortunate in the extreme!

Respectfully,

Lee Darrow, C.Ht. (Sandan, ret. sort of)
