Darren Laur' seminar in Halifax

Postby Van Canna » Fri Jan 21, 2011 5:17 am

My good friend, Darren Laur, of BC police force and tactician 'extraordinaire' will be conducting a _

"Edged Weapon Tactics / Counter Tactics
“Pat, Wrap, and Attack”

Seminar In Halifax NS working with the Jim Maloney group.

These students must be the most well rounded in the Uechi world, since Maloney, reaches out for the best cross training to benefit his group_

This seminar, based upon our very successful Law Enforcement program, will provide participants with simple “realistic” self protection strategies to deal with the growing threat of spontaneous edged weapon assaults.

The seminar will begin with an interactive PowerPoint classroom session, with the remainder of the day devoted to hands on training. Topics covered in this seminar include:

• Edged weapon facts and statistics
• Tactical errors made by defenders
• Fantasy defences against fantasy attacks
• Types of attacker
• Pre-assaultive considerations
• Types of edged weapons available and favored on the street
• Time framing
• What to do if you are cut
• Predator to prey mind shift
• Hands on physical skills to deal with spontaneous edged weapon assaults

A similar program has been taught to federal, provincial, and municipal police agencies across Canada, the United States, and Great Britain.

Seminar Length: 8 hour seminar ( live attacks only)
12 hour seminar ( live and stationary attacks)

It is also recommended that participants wear groin protection, mouth protection, and clear eye protection. It is also recommended that participants wear regular street clothes and footwear that they would feel comfortable training in.

Darren is a specialist in such reality training...the edged weapon threat is constantly on the rise the world over...a street fight changes dynamically when a blade or fear of a blade is present.

Good luck to you all.

Hi Van,

Do you have more info on this? I checked Darren's site, but it doesn't show seminar dates.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris,

Hope things are well with you and yours…

The seminar is scheduled for Sunday February 13th at our dojo located at 475 Windmill Road, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Darren is in town for the Winter Games and has kindly offered to present his dynamic "Edged Weapon Tactics / Counter Tactics" program “Pat, Wrap, and Attack”.

I sent the original message to Van for posting and most of the course description is included as you can see… if you have any additional questions or want additional information let me know.

We are very excited to be hosting this event and the response has been great… are you considering making the trip?? We would enjoy having you visit…

All the best,
Shane

Pretty awesome you're able to host this. totally awesome actually!!

And Halifax is so much closer for me than Victoria....

Sadly the date doesn't work, but I appreciate the info/invite -- so thanks very much all the same.

Best regards to you folks down east -- hope you're wintering well! I heard your groundhog there is predicting an early spring. we'll see. :?
