Good thread. I've enjoyed the various points that have been made.
One thing that has not been touched on (or, if it has, I missed it so forgive my repetitiveness) is that we are comparing art vs art. On paper, the Karate student is superior to the boxer due to more weapons at his disposal. Again, on paper. However, I feel it really boils down to the skill of the individual.
A mediocre boxer will be defeated by an excellent kickboxer. A great boxer will defeat the Karate student who only attends class once a month. The highly trained TKD student will beat the unskilled wrestler. And so on, and so on.
So it becomes, once again on our forums, an discussion of how much you devote to training, depending on your goal.
When I talk about this person vs that person (in the martial arts world) many times I feel the winner is determined by "who gets there first".
