Nobody in their right mind would ask my opinion, but I've seen video of Mas Ayoob firing 10mm and .45 handguns, and in his grip, they barely move. Recoil just doesn't seem to be a factor for him. After a year of firing a 10mm, there's alot less recoil jump in my hands than there was originally. So there are some factors that are controllable, and the guy in this video isn't accounting for them.
I don't care if you pump all 10 rounds from a Walther P-22 into someone center-mass... if they're a committed attacker, they will still have AT LEAST 30 seconds with which to bludgeon you to death, and that's if you hit the heart and lungs with every round (not a gaurantee with a .22 that can't penetrate the breast bone or cleave ribs.).
An overzealous prosecuter might say a .22 handgun is an assassination weapon. Low, low recoil and report... use it in a crowded area, and it's quite possible no one will be able to tell where the shots came from. ANMC recently had a case of someone being shot with a .22 handgun... the round ricochetted off their clavicle and played ping-pong in their chest cavity. A .22 might not stop a committed, violent attacker in time, but they might be more likely to die from it.
