The type of training we do here incorporates Underground Strength Training ( a system created by Zach Even-Esh), which includes odd object training with stones, sandbags,sledge hammers, tires, Battling Ropes, and a lot of bodyweight exercises, CrossFit which includes Olympic Weightlifting, Power lifting, CrossFit Striking, kettlebels, medicine balls, basic gymnastics, running, and rope climbing.
There is more but that is a basic overview.
One last thing, Van, I forgot. Regarding exercises that would benefit Uechi practitioners, I would recommend the keg squats using the bear hug grip to strengthen the legs, core, plus the forearms and hands.
All the varieties of pullups we do are great for grip and forearm strength also.
