I used to train in Warrington, it's a strange place, it's in the middle of countryside yet is run down and industrial and there are lots of gyms like that one and lots of people like them
I think the secret is, and not just in fighting. These people are "Result orientated" not " Process Oriented"
If You are RO then you look at the result that you want and gear yourself to train for that, if you are PO then you follow a process, most times the process doesn't get you to the result that you want. Usually you have to conform to a set pattern, learn kata etc and the boss of the club doesn't want you to be as good as he is.
In that club the result they wanted was to be tough guys, to do that they fought lifted weights and took roids and if they went looking for trouble they went as a group and they would have no qualms in using a weapon.having said that , they lived like animals and had no quality of life.
