Howard Viele makes well designed tactical/utilty, linerlock folders. Of special interest is his trademark -- the three prong pin wheel (The Uechi symbol). This symbol is attractively embedded in each of his knives. The pinwheel and three small holes drilled in the spine of all his blades, according to Viele, represent the "Japanese God of War". Whatever... His knives are attractive and useful collectibles for the interested Uechi-ryu practitioner.
Viele collaborated with SpyderCo in the design of a production knife, the C42. This knife is more "utility" in size and in design because of certain missing features in the handle. Nevertheless, a nice attractive and useful knife for various chores at an affordable price. You can check it out on
