There were two effictive weaapons the did not reach my not on the division of small arms in WWII.

They were the Russian Tokarev in 7.62X54 and the German G43 rifle in 8X57mm. Both featured 10 riund box magazines and semi atuomatic function.

Both were quite different than the design of the M-1 Garand.

The Torarev was often used by German troops . Apparently the landsers reconized their need for that paticuar type of firepower.

The G43 was called the "Hitler Garand" by american troops and was specifically mentioned in lasts night "Battle action" sequnce on the Military channel.

I found the G43 lighter and hamdier than the Garand--but idid not care for the sight as i have a positive dislike for the v and inverted v used on German rifles of WWII.

I know much less about the Tokarev.
