Well it did not show up too well but there are two interesting things about this picture: 1. It is a picture of the earliest Military Formation that I have seen and

2. I found it in "H.G. Wells-The Outline of History"

The Phalanx is usually the first advanced formation placed into use by a society's military.

Napleon I still used phalangial tactics and found them still useful in his many sets of conquests. enemy lines would always buckle when the French columns hit.

Only a few armies had the discipline to withstand Napoleons column.
