Fred:

Chris of North London budo has said the ban will take effect in April.

How very sad.

I know. If it's a weapon used incorrectly ban it.

If someone chokes someone with a Hot Dog, excuse me, banger!

Will they ban those next.

Probably

Probably they will.

I also apologize for any seeming disrespect for the sensibilites of your sensei re: the proper way to sharpen a Katana.
'nuff said, I guess.

I do have a couple of good looking tsuba around should you ever venture into 'customization".

One of the WWII Shin Guntos I had was clarly a bad blade, but, the owner had put on it a very pretty non issue iron tsuba with semi precious metal inlays on the sword.

The Saya was wood and I have heard most mil spec swords used western type metal saber scabards.

One can only suppose this happened from time to time.

One could also guess that "issue" furniture would have been placed on a decent family blade during the war, from time to time.

Any thought on this phenomenon Sensei?

Hi John,

Here is a Kamikaze pilot posing with what is likely a family heirloom Katana.
Notice the typical mounting.

Of course not all Japanese soldiers and pilots were descended from Samurai, (most weren't) so naturally they had no family heirloom Katana.
So for those the typical western style mountings.

I've seen evidence online, of those western style fittings changed over to traditional fittings.

My Iaido sensei uses one I believe.

I modified the picture code so that the picture would show.

I think the last "img" had an extra slash or something.

I have several Copper Tsuba from the North London Budo store and I will post pics asap.

I purchased at least one extra in the event you might wish to replace or upgrade.

Actually what I need for my waki are the seppa and one other part.
Difficulty in finding matching ones so it looks correct.
I contacted a sword club, but haven't made a meeting yet.
I made a saya, but I think I may make a better one.

Hi:

I have a few parts and seppa around.

If you want to look them over let me know.

The Seppa are probably too large for a Waki.

Trying to make a Saya is, according to my student, most difficult---so if you made ------well done.

Take A Look

I think it is worth a look at what I have.

If you wish to just undertake replacing the tsuba that I have that is waki size we can just make the change and yoou may have the smaller for the Waki,

It is a nice tsuba, but more suited to a Waki.

I have at least 8 seppa.

I assume the can be made to fit----they are of 3 different thicknessess.

YOu can also try to contact North London Budo before he is closed down.
