David Moy, a very low-key Uechi Ryu guy, but one of the best uechi ryu fighters out there. You'll have to go to camp to train with him.

Well I'll tell you one thing Uechi has contributed: a dang-cool forum where all kinds of extremely interesting and relevant stuff is discussed, disagreed, kudo'd , analyzed and expounded upon by all kinds of individuals, at many different levels of knowledge.

Thank you GEM for THAT!

And mostly we're halfway civilized, aren't we?! Mostly!

...and now for the serious answer...

Bronze brought up a really good point about defending the head.
We should discuss this, maybe on another thread because it it's extremely important.

Got lots more but saved it for future post!
Like Ahmed, we cover the body/head too!

New thread, or carry on here?

I think that Uechi is about open hand fighting, check out my article "The Wigan Bouncer".that to my mind is how Good Uechi should be...and I think that it is about getting a couple of really good hard shots in quickly.hence the conditioning :D

yup, jorvick isn't his real name, but it's hard to think of him any other way after all this time. Raymond Wylie is the author you seek.

I started posting as Laird because I was tired of folks calling me ugly.

Sooner or later we all come clean

HA Sensei ugly it`ll always be :)

man I`m not changing my handle for any of ya ...

It`s a good article and addresses much one of the reasons I was drawn to Uechi , that and its dichotomy with shotokan

Okay Uechi folk look at the two preceding pics and modify them slightly and your own concepts slightly to meet somewhere in a compromise.

The Helmut = modified Seisan elbow strike.

The dive = pretty much the double spear hand of Seisan.
