Hi all,
My spam email is getting totally crazy. I am getting 20+ a day sometimes. You know, viagra, credit cards, mortages, sexual offers, etc...
Is there any software I can download or buy that will help? How does it work?
Thanks in advance.
Raf

Lots of options today Raf..

Mailwash is a great free program, as is Mailblocks. (The free versions will only handle transfers from a single account.)

Mailwash is nice, because you can "bounce" mail back to the spammers. In some cases, this will reduce the amount of spam, since some will delete "bounced" email from their lists.

Mailblocks puts all questionable mail into a "pending" file and sends an email to the sender, asking any person who may have sent a legitimate email to perform a simple task that a computer cannot do. In 3 days, the computer deletes all unanswered email.

Spam is a real problem for anyone using an email that is published on a website. Harvesters scan the internet and gathers all names with an @ sign. Guess what they do with those names! I still get over 1000 email a day, in spite of Ted's blocking many. Most are viruses! In a three day period of time, these junk email take up 50 - 70 meg of storage on the Mailblocks server.

Interestingly, Hotmail, Yahoo and other popular email programs, will block nearly all virus attachments before the user gets them.

Your never going to get rid of spam emails, programs can filter them, but in the end they cause more problems then they fix. Take some of the old ad pop-up programs that seemed like they worked for awhile and then magicly stoped, these programs just gather information such as email addresses and send them to spammers. As for blocking the email adresses, you will find that to be hard also, many spammers use a system where the email they send from will change almost everyday. Although if I had to recommend a program it would be adaware, but get it from kazaa so its the full verson, or else it won't do all the things ya need it ta.

Very true...

Seems as though whatever "surefire" program I try, the junk email just keeps coming.

I'll have to look into Adaware. Thanks for tip.
