This will probably mean that RJ-45 Ethernet connections will be dead in lieu of Fiberop, which is already employed in most Data Centers mostly with SAN storage.
We have a 2 Gig Fiberop line presently, but we can't possibly push that much data.

So the answer to your question is yes, and definitely yes.
