Scanners

Post by Van Canna »

Hi Chuck,

Sorry I can’t help you with roadrunner, it hasn’t made yet to my town but soon will be, and I will subscribe because of the speed!

I am sure you know about scanners!

I am looking at an HP-6200c or 5200-cxi!

The 5200 has E-mail and Web software links that let you scan directly to Web authoring and e-mail applications! Don’t know if the 6200 has the same! Do you know?

How does the software links work for direct scanning?

Which is the best and most user-friendly scanner on the market? Which would you buy and why?

Thanks,

I should have the roadrunner soon, under 60 days.
Tony-san should be back on soon, he's getting a sweat GW2k !!
Anyway on to the scanner
I like HP they make a excellent product.
The 6200-c is more of a office work horse.
It has LAN sharing software so you can scan and edit from any where. Has anoptional 25 page feeder tray so that tells me its a workhorse.
The 5200-Cxi is more of a SOHO machine.
Great features and killer software bundle.

The software links into what ever programs you tell it too. Most of the interface is through a twain drivers in those programs.
Works Great!! Almost flawless interaction between the two.
I like any "One Touch" type scanner.
I have a Visioneer 7600 scanner
same features of the HP but at 3/4 the cost.
The only name brand I stay away from is wacky off the wall ones. Ones you have never heard of at Computer shows. I like HP UMAX Visioneer AGFA. There are others out there that are good. I think HP and AGFA are the best but they carry a high price tage. All scanners have the same specs. So it comes down to price and name brand loyality.
Thats my $.02 worth
Enjoy!
Chuck

P.S.
I'd get the 5200Cxi if you want the most bang for the buck.

Glad i could be of some help.
I have yet to read the manual that came with mine but i messed it and learned that way.
Most of it's pretty intuitative. A few right clicks and you can get anything configured that can be configured.
Have fun and scan away!!

Chuck
