I run a Mac and I get ____.exe files in e-mail every so often which I can't open.

What are .exe files? Is there an ap I can get that will translate them to Mac? Is there an alternative I can get my friends to use so I can open them?

Thanks,

Sochin,
There is software emulators out there for PCs to run Mac stuff so there should be software emulators for the Mac to run PC apps.
The question I pose is, email is very well know for spreading virus's ___.exe are the best way to spread them. Do you really want to open them? may do something may do nothing why risk it. Mac's have been pretty safe from most virus as most people are gearing them to PC's. Food for thought.
B.T.W. Nice machine!

PS: I just thought! if there is a PC virus, can my Mac be corrupted by it -is the code transferable, if I open it?

I knew this would cost me money!
Yes, I'm driving a G4 so I can run an emulator - that's the only way, hey?

Thanks, Tony,

How about this then: when my pc friends want to send me text, they can send it in RTF which is combatable to both - is there a similar cross platform file format for .exe animations? Generic pics can come as jpeg or tiff etc. but since I don't know what a ___.exe file is, I can't suggest an alternative save method to put it into a form I can use...

Sochin,
___.exe are executibles. They are programs, I have no real time on a Mac so I don't what the Mac eqiv. is sorry. I'd do the rtf for documents unless they can make pdf's they are much better and everything get across in the pdf.images fonts etc etc.
I'll research some more and get back to you.
