SCSI vs EIDE

Post by Allen M. »

Hello Chuck,

http://www.heatsink.net/cgi-heat/review.pl?REVIEWS=scsi writes the following about Multitasking: Unlike IDE, SCSI devices allow one device to transfer data while another is seeking. This helps gain performance in a multitasking operating system such as Windows NT or Linux. [This is the throughput I was talking about]

Other SCSI references: http://www.scsifaq.org/ and http://www.scsita.org

SCSI vs EIDE

Post by Dakkon »

Allen,
Great sites! I love techie sites like that.
Yes, the SCSI cards unload 99% of the load from the CPU. Thats why I use it on the CD burner system, buffer under-runs due to a busy CPU *****!
Have you or do you know anyone thats used the Adaptec raid cards? They are only a little more the the 2940's and you can stack on memory?
Oh yeah the Caldera install is on the scsi burner system
