Your cookies are being blocked I think. You got a cookie blocker and pop-up killer running?

Hey Thanks Tony!

I've been asking Ted to fix this when the problem was with my cookies setting on explorer.

Go to "tools", then click on "Internet options".

Click on the "security" tab.

There is a "trusted site" link. Click on "sites"

type http://www.uechi-ryu.com in the "add" window.

click "add" and you won't have to keep typing in your username/password!

Again... thanks Tony. Lots of people have been asking how to fix this and I didn't know.

IE6 gives you another option. You can keep uechi-ryu.com in the Internet Zone but give it relaxed security on cookies. Do this by going to tools-->options-->privacy--web sites-->edit and add www.uechi-ryu.com to the list by clicking "allow" (NOT BLOCK).

This may not work if you have a utility like a firewall or pop-up killer set to block cookies.

I think I've fixed the cookie problem. IE5/6 should accept the cookies by default now. If anyone finds otherwise, please let me know.

Well problems still exist for me. I can not log in most of the time. I go to log in and am given the log in screen 4-5 times. I check the bottom of the forum index page and see that I am listed as being logged in although I am told that I am not.
when i go to the bottom of the page that I'd like tpo participate in there is a list of what can and nac not ne done. It always says that I cannot post, repyy etc.
when I do post on that lucky occasion I do not get an option where I can edit my post and my spelling errors stay for all to see. is there a spell check here?
If I try to post a reply to a topic I am sent a log in screen many times. Yesterday instead of being allowed to post a reply I tried to start a new thread after many failures at posting.
I always co back and check to see if my name is still on the forum scren at the bottom and see that i am signed in but am continually asked for my name and password and still denied access.
Am I the only one having these problems? I tried to do the auto sign in and that won't work either.
Please can someone post something and let me know if I am doing something wrong or illegal or am I not being allowed to post by blocking me somehow.
I'd like to participate but get the feeling that I am not wanted.
is anyone else experiencing the moods of the forum cyber gods?

Ok just refused ability to send 2 times gonna try again
3 times
4 times
5 6 7 times but I am still calm
almost an hour later, rebooted twice, checked settings
please help me not that this is the most important thing I have to do But I have been enjoying being here.

Please email Ted

Finally :D

Sorry to RachelL and anyone else who had trouble staying logged in.

Tony-San: The forum has two methods of keeping people logged in: cookies and sessions. Sessions die after 60 minutes of inactivity or whenever you close your browser. Cookies can last much longer -- when you click "keep me logged in," the forum sets a cookie on your computer. If you go to another site on the internet, you don't want them to be able to read your cookies; they'd be able to tell where you've been, along with some other possibly-sensitive information. To stop this from happening, the internet has a set of strict standards that makes it so only a site who has set a cookie can read that cookie. When the forums set a cookie, it sends a piece of information along -- the "domain" of the cookie. However, complexities arose when people visit the forums from multiple domains; "uechi-ryu.com," "www.uechi-ryu.com," "uechi-ryu-temp.ath.cx." To fix this problem, I modified the forums slightly; anyone who goes to one of the alternate urls is automatically forwarded to the "www.uechi-ryu.com" domain. Try it: visit http://uechi-ryu.com/forums/ and the URL will change to one with a "www" in it. I used a non-standard method (using PHP to send headers directly to the browser, if that makes any sense) in this redirection system to make it almost completely transparent to the user (and make it so the 'back' button still works right). In doing so, I made a mistake: although the redirect worked fine, any additional headers after the redirection headers were still parsed and sent to the browser. These additional headers sometimes included cookies (they're sent to the browser in headers). The result was a very muddled mix-up that worked by default with some browsers and not with others. I set the redirection script to exit after it sent the redirection header, and everything seems to be working fine now. Sorry, I forgot myself and got technical about halfway through that. If you're curious, feel free to ask any questions after reading this unintelligible post :-)
