Having the gang over for a superbowl party????

I got a slow cooker for Christmas and love it! :)

Beef Stew

This takes about 20 minutes to prepare, approximately 6 1/2 hours to cook and is awesome!!!

3/4 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes - (cheap meats cook up really tender)
2 onions, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large stalk celery, minced
2 carrots, finely chopped
1/4 pound green beans, cut into 1 inch pieces
8 ounces fresh mushrooms chopped
3 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
2 (14.5 ounce) cans fat-free chicken broth
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 (10.5 ounce) cans beef consomme

1. In a slow cooker, combine beef, onions, garlic, celery, carrots,
green beans, mushrooms, and potatoes. Pour in the tomatoes and tomato
sauce. Season with bay leaf, pepper, thyme, and marjoram. Stir together
chicken broth and flour. Pour chicken broth mixture and beef consomme
into slow cooker, and stir.

2. Cover, and cook on Low 6 to 10 hours. Remove bay leaf before
serving. Feeds 8.

Superbowl party, most assuredly. This is delicious and easy. Can't mess this one up and your friends will ask you to bring it every time.

I am bringing my Brie dish. I use cast iron but you could use glass.

Hot Brie
Wedge of Brie
Stick of Butter
Loaf of French Bread

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In small cast iron pan, place stick of butter then set wedge of brie on top. Loosely wrap loaf of bread in foil (I cut up my French Bread beforehand but you don't have to). Place both Brie and bread in oven for 30 minutes. Dip bread into Brie/Butter combination and enjoy.

You may wish to toss some pecans on top of the Brie for the last 10 minutes for variety.
