I was dreaming of the past...

I've seen a lot of good sword stuff lately on U-Tube, I think that the sword to most of us is a bit divorced from our idea of reality. check out this clip

the sword cutting Iado is called Tennen Rishin Ryu

Why would that be?

Nice thing about this is no stupid music, so you can hear his sword sing.
He is an author of two sword books, and a former Japanese forms champion.

great stuff ...the sword makes an awesome sound, deadly music, and they do say that you can tell how good the cut is by the music it makes.........I had a friend who was a dealer in militaria, he had many fine blades, one was 800 years old, but strangely not as expensive as a much newer one .a Kyo Gunto .....anyway it was a different world, a very strange world seeing dangerous weapons that are not used anymore and are now a bit redundant.but folks reclaiming these skills.....I really wish I could get into it more ..I think that there is an abundance of little known knowledege there
I'd love to even speak to this guy

He makes a lot of technical mistakes like dropping his face too low when he assumes his seated position -tate hiza- in the first draw. Despite his book, I think he is sloppy. His draw is hinged and not smooth.f.Channell wrote:This is my style. Although I haven't learned this set.

Check out:
See how his noto (sheathing) is smooth and fast. His draw is quick and accurate

Hi Jim,
Different style of Iaido and even when performing Seiza Mae, which they share, there are little differences of form. They are both way better than I. Noto is one place the differences show up, even within style sometimes.
That's a nice video, thanks.
