Peggy Hess - 7th Dan

Post by Dana Sheets »

Please join me in congratulating Peggy Hess on her promotion to 7th Dan.

I first met Peggy as a green belt. Not only was she the first women I met in Uechi with a senior rank, she inspired me and everyone else on the floor to put forth our best effort each and every class. She has an amazing knowledge of our style that is matched only by her enthusiasm for training.

Hai-sai Peggy-Sama! Well done!

The first time I met Peggy was back in 1989 when I was taking my shodan test. Peggy was just so enthusiastic about training and so passionate it would just naturally get you fired up.
Last time i saw her was 2003 in Conneticut training with Shinjo sensei at UCONN. I think she had a broken hand or injured wrist at the time, but that certainly didn't stop her from taking to the floor.
I held her up to my daughters at the time as a female Uechi role model, and it would be hard to find a better one, or a male one for that matter.
Congratulations on a well deserved promotion.

Congratulations to Peggy.

I have known Peggy since the early 80's and tested with her in 1998 on Okinawa when she earned her 6th. degree.

Peggy is an outstanding practitioner who has always generously shared her passion and love for the art with all Uechi-ka who crossed her path!

Amongst her many accomplishments, she single-handedly and successfully organized the All Women Trip to Okinawa which turned out to be a resounding success.

This is certainly a promotion that is well deserved.

All the best,
