So - how far have you REALLY prepared?

Post by Lori »

Lot's of talk on these pages about being prepared.

We discuss the force continuum - where, when, how.

We discuss methods for foiling different types of attack.

We discuss how to detect, diffuse, defend.

We discuss training methods and their merits.

We discuss a warrior being prepared for death - living each day as if it was your last - having your affairs in order (check out the Special Needs Forum) - none of us like to think of those things - BUT - if we are truly prepared for "battle" if you will, then we must be prepared for the eventuality of our own death.

Some have discussed a serious defensive mindset as being one where the determination "to do anything necessary to protect self or family and to stop the attack - even if it includes death - either in the act of defending or the assailant's" - as being the ultimate limit of mindsetting.

So - you are the prepared "warrior." You have adopted the ultimate mindset. You have trained and cross trained. You stay in shape - eat right - don't smoke - are aware - and practice detecting and diffusing potentially violent situations. You protect your kids to the full extent of your ability. You have your own "force continuum" and have the proper training, permits and follow the advice of the best "guns" in the field. You have a survival kit in your car. You have your affairs in order, are prepared to fight to the death to defend the honor of your self and your family. You have made out your will and your peace with God. You are ready for anything.

Have you thought about what to do with your body if/when the worst happens?

Provided you are in great shape - and even if you aren't. A stray bullet or a mistake or the act of defending yourself or a loved one can have fatal consequences. But you are prepared right?

So a bullet causes brain death and that well trained and healthy body has a whole bunch of organs that could give longer or even an improved quality of life to a number of innocent children, parents - or other innocents not as fortunate as we are to still be healthy enough to read these pages.

What do you think about organ donation? Do you think about organ donation? Do you care? Is it part of your "readiness?"

I heard a touching story about parents deciding to donate their child's organs after losing him in a tragic accident - that gift was a gift of life to seven other children who may well have died without that gift.

If it is not against your religious beliefs - why haven't you gotten an organ donor card? Is it too ugly to think about? Is there really any other reason (other than religious) not to? Some states let you put it right on your driver's license.

A gift like that could save someone you know.

Just some food for thought - and life.

Peace,
Lori

Nice topic, Lori.

I'm signed up and told my wife "once the spirit has left the package, give away what ever is useful".

We don't bury our clothes or money or anything else at all that could be of use.

Family memebers will fight over the smallest little thing, but we allow our most precious possessions to rot away in the grave.
Gilbert.
