I am a new IUKF member and wanted to introduce myself. I've been studying Uechi-Ryu for about nine months under the expert tutelage of Sensei Jim Melki, Albuquerque, NM.
I am 58 years old and have been blessed with a great family. I retired from the USAF in 2005 and am on my second career. I started on the Uechi-Ryu "path" for several reasons. First, I've always been reasonably healthy, but I lack coordination and flexibility. While still a struggle, those areas are slowly improving. Also, I am starting to dive deeper into the meditative aspects. I know I am still just skipping on the surface and fully expect this to be a lifelong journey. I only wish I started when I had more life left! My hobbies are: amateur astronomy, shooting, and motorcycles.
I hope to learn from this website, contribute when I actually know something, and make new friends along the way.
