I've always wanted to study a traditional Okinawan style such as Uechi or Goju and I am thinking of starting Uechi Ryu in the coming weeks and would like some feedback if possible.
I'm 46 years old and have some martial arts experience in a sports based style of karate which although enjoyable did not give me any real sense of fulfilment and I left some years ago.
I am a type 2 diabetic and am interested to see how other diabetics cope with leg conditioning and managing their feet. As a diabetic, foot and leg care is paramount to prevent potential complications later on. I realise that body conditioning is introduced slowly to allow the body adapt but bruises on my lower legs tend to heal somewhat slower than usual. My condition is managed reasonably well and my doctor doesnt have an issue with what I am wanting to do.
Am I wasting my time?
