I don't think man vs. woman matters, per se, but generally the person with the physical advantage has physical control (though perhaps not emotional or mental) of a conflict. Therefore it's somewhat disproportionately more the responsibility of the person in control to *prevent* the violence in the first place. No woman has a right to strike a man, just as no man has a right to strike another man.

You have a right to defend yourself, but if you have an extreme physical advantage then what defending yourself means is very different from what it means if you're at a disadvantage. It doesn't matter whether the other person is a women or a man, all that matters is whether the person poses a legitimate threat. In reality, that will depend very much on the specifics of the situation.
