From this mornings reports it appears that the US is preparing to haves several Ageis Cruisers tracking the missle launches as soon as they take place. From what I've read about their radar's they should be able to establish the target area asap.
There is also a ground based interceptor missle system that seems to be, being brought on line, in Alaska and several other places.
They seem reasonable precautions for a starting point.
Japan seems to be taking strong exception to missles flying over their air space and has indicated a missle falling on its property (as in error) may be conisdered an act of war.
As far as what should the United States doo, it's very difficult to say. The current public answers seem to be a focused effort to use diplomacy to try and effect change.
But North Korea does not seem amenable to the potential international pressures. And absent their success almost all other answers seem non-sane.
