This is Dave Young's Forum.
Can you really bridge the gap between reality and training? Between traditional karate and real world encounters? Absolutely, we will address in this forum why this transition is necessary and critical for survival, and provide suggestions on how to do this correctly. So come in and feel welcomed, but leave your egos at the door!

Thank you Van Canna Sensei for your welcome.

And to all, I intend to begin the forum subject with a synopsis of the law of self defense in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
I will post this as my first subject matter,
together with a brief explanation as to how the laws are applied, e.g. statute and case law.

I welcome brother/sister lawyers from all
jurisdictions for their comments and to any forum users interested in this subject matter.

Good luck Alan,

I'm no lawyer but I am a researcher and I wrote the only book in existance on the Canadian Criminal Code and self defense - so this is forum looks very interesting to me!

Congratulations Alan. Looks like you finally got your computer working. This should be a very busy forum now that we have a moderator.

Good luck

Brother Alan:

I am a member of the defense bar of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 20 years; my active interests are martial arts.

Unlike yours (from what I understand from various postings on Van Canna's Forum) my Commonwealth puts no duty to retreat upon any Kentuckian - which looks nice in print but, as you can imagine, is very different in actual practice.

Glad you're reactivating the Forum, counselor.
