Good points by Panther and Dana.
This is where we have failed and still do fail in our responsibilities to our students and candidates.
As Alan points out, we will be held very closely to the "reasonable standard" __
IMO __ not the reasonable "man" standard but the reasonable " karate instructor" standard.
And juries won't like us, you can bet on it.
They think we are a bunch of insecure violence prone individuals.
Take my word for it, I have been exposed to martial artists' legal hassles, criminal and civil.
If you are "lucky" enough to sit on a board when someone gets kicked in the throat and dies for lack of prompt, professional rescue people standing by..you will find yourself named in a law suit along with the rest of the "targets" !
