This is Dave Young's Forum.
Can you really bridge the gap between reality and training? Between traditional karate and real world encounters? Absolutely, we will address in this forum why this transition is necessary and critical for survival, and provide suggestions on how to do this correctly. So come in and feel welcomed, but leave your egos at the door!

Hey Panther,

When are we going to see a little iconography to represent your
tenacious feline self?

Being the type of big cat that I am, I've decided to let everyone give me some feedback on the little banner for this forum.

Without further interruption, here are three ideas to chose from... all dutifully stolen from people who can actually draw! Image I have my favorite, but would like to see what everyone else thinks... (Naturally, the winner will be resized to fit the banner area.)

I like #1, it's a little blocky (which will be improved when it's shrunk), but I like the styling the best.

I would vote for #1. The claws add a sense of realism.

Allen-san,

You didn't vote...

So far, I get:

#1 4 votes
#2 3 votes
#3 2 votes

Hmmmm, guess folks like the "aggressive" Panther as opposed to the "intellectual" Panther. Huh... whaddya expect from a bunch o' martial artists. Image

I'm leaning towards #1 for the Sanchin stance and the fact that it looks like the tiger carvings that Mattson-sensei has (and which I bought. Image )

I like #2 because it's colorful...

I like #3 because it's the "intelligent" cat. Image Then again, that's too much like being a couch potatoe geek... Oops... Image

I didn't have to, I'm with the silent majority. If I would have said #1 by the time I made my post then you'd think I was following these other dudes. See if I care!

#3 looks like it belongs on a children's page. The major difference between #2 and #1 as I see them in an objectional light (meaning as the light shines on the object, ahem...), is that #2 doesn't cut it on the white background of the header to the forum. I guess that leaves #1 as #1, doesn't it.

Women (at least this one) prefer #1 ... nice kitty, nice kitty.

Number Two. Shows the Unwary passerby right what they are getting into. Image

Kinda like the Tiger Eyes on Van's Forum.

One look and you know it's real.
