Yeah, I like Allens books. I have all of them.Glenn wrote:Allen's books are good, but I'm not sure of their availability now.
Uechi-ryu blue book

Anybody care to give me a two thousand dollar book so i can help preserve it by digitizing ?I could probably scan that in a few months in my spare time (10 pages here, 10 there, etc). Bummer about Japans copyright law though. I guess if an E-Copy suddenly showed up one day on the net and making it's rounds to everyone who ever wanted it but couldn't afford it, the "digitizer" won't be doing much bragging about it, thats for sure. My take is that it would just "be there" with no indication as to who actually did the work.

I look forward to any more translations being done , it`s a curious read

For a long time I almost snapped and bought this book.

Now this is one of the 2-3 super collectible Judo books. It has a huge cool factor being covered in gi material.
It sells for $700 and up, way up.
I haven't seen one recently on ebay.
It is now available in reprint for $20-$30 bucks. But it is not as cool.

Haven't bought it yet.

I would call this list of books accurate. Especially the first two.

The Uechi-Ryu blue book goes for approx. 60,000 - 80,000 japanese yen in okinawa depending on the condition. If you look you can find them.
How much is that in dead presidents??

Lots of good pictures if you've never seen the book before.

just wanted to let you know those two blue UEchi-ryu books are not available anymore.
I was just trying to help a seller find Uechi-ryu buyers as he often has to sell to non-Uechi-ryu folks suprising. I feel it is a shame that these rare sources of info are beinfg lost to people who do not train in this style. I sympathize though, as I surely do not have an extra $2000 just laying around; therefore i do not even own a copy.
Someone mentioned they knew another person with 5 still in wrapper. Do you think he would sell any of them and if so how much?
i have seen an English translation, and some of the names are off quite a bit. I am also yudansha in Matsumura SEito Shorin-ryu, and many stories in translation have reference to Sokon Matsumura (founder of all Shuri-based styles), but the name in tranlation is not Matsumura. However, the stories are identical to those told to us by his grandson and great-grandson, Hohan Soken.
