Sexual Bias

This is Dave Young's Forum.
Can you really bridge the gap between reality and training? Between traditional karate and real world encounters? Absolutely, we will address in this forum why this transition is necessary and critical for survival, and provide suggestions on how to do this correctly. So come in and feel welcomed, but leave your egos at the door!

Do you know that the harder thing to do, and the right thing to do, are usually the same thing? "Easy" doesn't enter into grown-up life... to get anything of value, you have to sacrifice.

I don't think man vs. woman matters, per se, but generally the person with the physical advantage has physical control (though perhaps not emotional or mental) of a conflict. Therefore it's somewhat disproportionately more the responsibility of the person in control to *prevent* the violence in the first place. No woman has a right to strike a man, just as no man has a right to strike another man.

You have a right to defend yourself, but if you have an extreme physical advantage then what defending yourself means is very different from what it means if you're at a disadvantage. It doesn't matter whether the other person is a women or a man, all that matters is whether the person poses a legitimate threat. In reality, that will depend very much on the specifics of the situation.

Yeah but sometimes being a man and having a sense of style is far more important than the law ....
