Hi Folks:

Just so that there is no misunderstanding and no one thinks the mysterious hacker is at work again or that there is any problem between George and I, with Bill’s indulgence, I am posting the note I had on my forum:

Stepping aside as forum moderator

Hello Everyone:

I would like to begin by thanking George for allowing an unknown from Canada an opportunity to moderate a forum on his web site.

This has been an experience to put it mildly, but most certainly a good one and one of learning.

George has expressed his desire to have his forums take a particular path and as this is his house he has every right to do so, and I am not saying it is a wrong one.

However, I have now found myself beginning to second guess everything I write and apologize for offending people at the beginning of posts.

Let me be clear that this is my own self censorship going on but it has become one I am not comfortable with.

So for my own personal reasons I find I can no longer effectively moderate this forum.

Therefore I have asked George to remove me as the forum’s moderator.

As the threads were started under my watch I would prefer they not get bashed about after I take my leave so, with George’s permission, I have locked those threads except the short power striking as it is generating some nice discussion, so enjoy it.

Of course the name and logo be will undergo a change as the moderator puts their own stamp on the forum (or the forum is removed).

I am not dropping out of moderating forums, I am simply trying to respect George’ house.

I have been invited to moderate a forum at a new venue:

http://www.uechiryu.ca/forums/index.php

I hope everyone will continue to visit and contribute to George’s forums and continue to make them a success. And perhaps you might also drop by and visit me in the other site now and then too.

Thanks to all for your support, I think the forum conducted itself well and there was a lot of learning that happened.

All the best to everyone.

I will be lurking around and posting from time to time so – see you.

(END)

As you can see I am still taking part in these forums.

That last active thread has been kindly transferred over to Van’s forum:

I am changing his logo to another and at that time will activate the forum again. If anyone has any ideas or if anyone would like to moderate a forum, please PM me.

around to installing the latest version of the forums which includes some new and neat administrative features. As I get time, I'll be going throught the archive forums (some 1650+ threads that go back to 1992) and will be moving them to existing and a few new forums I created.

Rick

You've gotta do what you've gotta do. You'll do fine in your new digs.

Come by and visit often. What else do you have to do during an Edmonton winter anyhow? ;)
