Looking for DC Area Uechi Dojo

Post by MikeK »

My friend Don has a co-worker who wants to take up Uechi again, and he asked me if I knew of any dojo in the DC and surrounding areas. So can you kind folks provide a roll call maybe with phone numbers?

Thanks.

There are more than one or two. Give us a bit more specific details about where he lives. DC and the suburbs around them are so god-awful to travel in and around that you probably want to choose a location carefully.

Mike,

Glasheen Sensei is right. Traffic is horrible and worse every day.

If I'm not mistaken, you're in Northern Va. Folta Sensei teaches at Oak Marr, Cub Run and South Run Rec Centers. I know there is also a group in Falls Church. If you're in DC or Md as Glasheen Sensei said, there are other groups who are very good and active.

Tom, Bill, Thanks guys, I knew Dana was up there but I didn't know DC was Uechi dense. I'll find out where he's looking.

I wouldn't say we're Uechi dense. Compared to Boston, and some other areas, we don't have much, but we have some great folks in the DC area, and our numbers of high quality folks are really growing.

Also, it's pretty cool as everyone I've met in my 4 1/2 years in Uechi really seems to act as part of a big team, and for the better of the art.

Again, if I can help please let me know.
