The photography is beautiful. Many of the aircraft shown are now among those preserved in "The Desert Airforce"-Monthan Davis AFB.
Among those pictured in both books is the venerable F-106, modified to carry a 20mm Vulcan in its nose.
The F-106's were the predecessors of the F-15's belonging to the Mass ANG unit which were the first interceptors to arrive over Ground Zero.
This Arrival is featured in the Published photographs in "Above Hallowed Ground" of that ANG unit based at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod.
About the only good thing coming out of Katrina was that the scheduled closing of Otis was indefinitely postponed in order to provide shelter for refugees in the unused but extensive barracks facilities of Camp Edwards, the other part of the "Massachusetts Military Reservation".
I have finally gotten on of those pictures up, those by the the Author of the now retired F106's from the Jersey Air Guard
