Yes, I can drive with a joystick. Heck, I used to "drive" with the keyboard, but I think actually putting something like that in a car is something that could only have been dreamed up by a bunch of old guys (who can't) trying to figure out what young people might like. The video gaming industry is just making do with the generic controller already on the system--nobody especially LIKES driving with it, and fortunately, when you twitch the wrong way you don't actually die when you swerve out of your lane into oncoming traffic. A truly innovative control system would somehow make the car seem like a natural extension of the human body, which a joystick doesn't. Note how the new Wii controller works, detecting and responding to a broader range of inputs, including (but not limited to) gross motor movements. That's a glimpse of the real future, IMO, not joysticks.
