Where are they all coming from???

Post by gmattson »

Just checked the "stats" on uechi-ryu.com...

2282 guests online!!!!! (You can view the stats on the home page in the right frame.)

That is the most people I've seen online at one time since I began watching the statistics.

In all the websites on the internet, uechi-ryu.com is rated
786,859. (lower the number, the more visitors) Now considering the millions of sites out there, this is pretty impressive.

For the past six months, where the average number of people on-line at any given time ranged from 150 - 2000, the stats show over 750,000 people a month visited uechi-ryu.com! WOW!

That's great, but it'd be nicer if they'd contribute to the discussions. GEM, how about giving them a big "sensei says, post" to help get them moving.

The only thing where you can get everyone to contribute is politics, because I'm pretty sure plenty of those guests aren't all advanced ranks, so if a discussion of any advanced kata or technique is going on, about all they can say is "Wow that sounds cool" It would still be nice seeing people do more than lurk, even though I'm guilty of that myself, but its because I often don't feel informed enough to say much on things.

Personal experiences are always a benefit to read about. Tourneys, cross training, getting stabbed in the face etc. are all very educational reads.

Rank, shmank. Hell, if I depended on rank I'd never even have gotten as far as I have, and that aint very far.
Personally I love when people ask so called "dumb" questions or present their personal view of something even if it's not that well informed or the accepted view, and I do it all the time. Heck, you don't have to be advanced to see a video, or something in class and ask "what's that move mean, why was something done this way and not that way?" To not ask questions is a waste of the combined expertise floating around these forums.

Ask away newbies, any question is a good question if you are trying to learn.

They aren't even visiting the forums

Post by gmattson »

unfortunately....

I don't know why, but the stats on the forums are miserable. 6-10 people on-line at any given time when thousands are on the main section.

Why won't they even drop in to read the forums?????

I haven't visited the main page in quite awhile, but after checking it out all I can say is wow! George I love the idea that you're posting teasers from the forums on every page, if that can't get folks interested in visiting, reading and posting I don't know what else you could do. Maybe post a survey on the main page to see why people aren't clicking on the links.
